10/6-10/10 This week is Respect Week 2014 in New Jersey. At Bingham and Downing we will be learning about what it means to be a bystander and how to use our super powers to help those who might be bullied. Everyday they will see a video in their class about the topic of the day. The topics are self-respect, respecting others, bucket filling, being a bystander and respecting rules. For the kindergarten class they will see how Howard B. Wigglebottom learns he must be brave and bold to tell his teacher when he is being bullied by the Snorton twins. The other students will be having a discussion on the book SUPERHEROES....The Power of Bystanders. The students will also learn that each class will be receiving a cape so that when someone is caught being a super bucket filler they will get to wear the cape for a little while in the classroom. We want to celebrate how great our kids are at Bingham and Downing Elementary. On 10/10 each school will be having an assembly which is a play on childhood favorite books where the characters have to deal with a bully. What a great way to end a great week.
